Package swap with T’mika of Scrapdaworld

I was part of this awesome swap hosted by T’mika of scrapdaworld on youtube please enjoy my video of my packaging that i put together. It was quite a challenging swap and I changed several elements as i went along. Typically no project ever finishes for me the way i start out. In fact the bags were remade. And then after i mailed it i wished i had made the packages gusseted. The tags were redesigned three times and the cards twice LOL! Anyway without further waffling on here is the video.

Red White Kaboom Blog Hop

Welcome to the Red, White, Kaboom! Blog Hop! Happy 4th of July! We hope you are having a great holiday and thanks for spending a little time with us today. You should have come from Angela’s Blog . If not, go back and start the hop at Alicias Blog. We hope you enjoy our creative efforts we have to share today. Enjoy your holiday!

For my Project I made a two page photo layout. It is all set up and ready to insert some four by six photos and add some journaling. First I picked out three designer papers that I wanted for my background. Two of them are from “The Paper Studio” and one is from “Colorbok”. I cut them to the following measurements: The first paper I cut two pieces at 11 3/4 Inches by 3 3/4 inches. From the second sheet I cut two rectangles at 7 7/8 inches by 5 3/4 inches.  I cut the third sheet of designer paper at 7 7/8 inches by 5 3/4 inches. Then I glued them to two twelve by twelve pieces of dark blue card stock..

The photo mats are cut to the following measurements: White card stock 4 pieces 4 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches. then  red card stock, four pieces cut to 4 1/4 inches by 6 1/4 inches. The journaling mats are cut to the following dimensions: red, 2 pieces of 3 1/2 inches by 4 1/4 inches and 2 pieces of white cardstock cut to 3 1/4 by 4 inches. I chose two packages of embellishments one from “Paper House” with some very cute assorted picnic 3D embellishments, and the other set is a “Jolee Boutique” set of flags stars and banners. Here are the two finished pages.

I like my layouts to be clean and crisp but you could easily add more layering with ribbons lace and stickers. I hope you enjoy the layouts.

Ribbon Card

my latest card. another pink one. This is for the ribbon card swap. Measurements are as follows. Card base is a standard A2 which is 4 1/4 inches by 5 1/2 inches. I used a white card stock from staples it is 80 lb weight. The first layer is a pink from recollections card stock solids it is cut to 4 x 5 1/4. On top of that i attached layer of white using the lattice punch by fiskars i cut it to 2 1/2 by 5 1/4 before punching it out. After punching it measures just over 2 inches wide. Next i layered on a light pink ruffle ribbon cut to six inches long so that it wraps over the edges of the cardstock. Topped it with a bright pink rose Ribbon also cut to six inches long. The ribbons are from Hobby Lobby. The sentiment is from Hampton Arts.
I used pastel pink stamp mania embossing powder. And the sentiment layers are white at 1 1/4 by 2 1/2, light pink at 1 by 2 1/4, and bright pink at 3/4 of an inch by 2 inches. The sentiment is popped up on scotch dimensional tape as is the main card layer. The flat pearls are from the paper studio.

Hope you like it. Let me know what you think of it.

Valentines Card Swap

These are the Valentines Day Cards I made for a Card swap. I put them on an A2 Card base (4.25 x 5.50). The red matting is (4 x 5.25). The heart dotted paper is (3.5 x 4.75). I cut the hearts out with an EK Success multi heart punch, using the middle setting. I attached the heart rings with tumbow mono multi glue and used the inner hearts on the inside of the card. The Sentament is from the Hero Arts holiday sentaments CL498.

The cover and binding

Hi all. Here are pictures of the cover, and my start on making the binding.

i am not happy with my cover. The card board I used is not thick enough, and when I glued it down I glued too much all at once. Another problem is that the edge of the tyvek shows as a bump under the cover. probably becasue I did not use the tape but used glue. and I don’t like that.

Regarding the binding system, I am currently trying to put it together with glue but I am going to do the rest with the score tape I think. just because it is difficult to get the edges to line up properly with glue.

Here are the pictures

First up is the cover and you can clearly see I had issues with the glue and making the cover smooth. I have a wrinkle on the back cover. Another problem is that the cardboard was too thin(because I did not have Chip board and used some other cardboard) and it is rolling instead of lying flat. I really need to find some good sources of different thicknesses of chipboard

Here is the inside of the cover.

Here is how far I got with the binding system I still need to finish glueing the folds together and rounding the edges and cutting the off size tabs.

I want to say too, so far the instructions have been pretty good with a couple of places I have added my own notes for a bit of clarity.

and the one other change I will be making to mine is that my tyvek is going to be cut to fully cover the cover. Just for a cleaner look.

The issues I am having by the way have nothing to do with Kathy Ortas instructions but are due to the fact that i am so new to the whole scrapbooking experience and thus each project is a learning adventure for me. I also do not always have a ready source for some of the supplies and tend to try to make what I have available work.

I will hopefully have a new cover to share by tomorrow and the binding completed, and perhaps some of the photo mats.

All Occasions Mini Album

A few days ago I purchased Kathy Orta,s May “All Occasion Mini Album” tutorial. I really like it, so I started cutting out the pages last night.
My apologies as these pictures are taken with my Ipad. So quality is not as good as my thirty five millimeter camera.

These are the base pages. There are four styles. And the tiny pockets are these cool photo holders. I used scotch quick dry adhesive rather than tape. But looking at them in the light of day i will definitely switch to the tape as it gives a smoother finish.

Another change is i used black 8.5 x11 paper rather than 12×12, because that is what I had on hand. It worked just fine. I will still need a few of the larger sheets to finish up. This trial run is in preparation to make a larger wedding album for my niece. Hers will be eight by eight, so i will have to adjust the measurements when i make that album.

Now that the preliminaries are out of the way.

This first picture is the Phot Holders and the mini off size pages.

This is one of the page styles there are two of these. This is the square cut out pocket.. so far it is my favorite.

Another style

A third style

This picture and the following one are the fold over page. it has different stuff on the inside and outside. I love this pocket fold out page too.

Stay tuned for more posts as i work on this project.
